Welcome

The objective of this blog is to provide readers a forum for their opinions regarding where to eat in Costa Rica. The blog will be blunt, to the point, honest, and hopefully fair.

The result is to find restaurants where you can enjoy the food and environment without regard to being trendy, touristy, or "local".

In the process some restaurants may feel they were unjustly (or justly) reviewed. Make the point in responding and updates may be reflected in updated reveiws.

Enjoy and eat your heart out.

INKA Grill - Santa Ana and Escazu, Costa Rica - Peruvian

No need to try unless you want to take some risk.  I have “black listed” this restaurant and will not try again unless “strongly encouraged”.  Food poisoning, flavors in general are nothing special.  I’ll find a better Peruvian for a future review (see below for alternatives).
Located in Escazu and Santa Ana.  In Escazu at the commercial center Paco and in Santa Ana behind Forum II.

Web:  Not found (maybe there is a reason?)
GPS Coordinates – (if you know, post a comment with the coordinates so we can avoid)
Telephone - +(506) 2289-5117
Schedule – Monday to Wednesday – 12:00pm to 10:30pm; Thursday through Saturday – 12:00pm to 11:30pm and Sunday 12:00md to 10:00pm.

Service – Prompt and attentive.  Menu in English or Spainish.

Food –This review can be summed up into one word – “Blacklisted”

The food is presented very nicely with relatively generous portions.  In fact, the food looks delicious.  But . . . don’t let the appearance fool you if quality is your objective.  I’ve had food poisoning in the Escazu location several years ago and my business partner visiting from the U.S. picked up a bad case of food poisoning yesterday from the Santa Ana location.  Take your risk.  Oh, the bread (only one style) was served warm and fresh.

Price -  Some would say expensive – I think expensive but not outrageously expensive.  However, in all cases expensive or not – the price is not worth getting sick.     Your paying for the ambiance, relatively good service and easy to find locations, certainly not “Peruvian” food.

Ambiance – Not bad, easy to talk without distractions and clean.  The bathrooms in the Santa Ana location are co-located with other businesses as a central bathroom in the “mall” environment and are not what I would consider the model of cleanliness.

The place has both inside dining and outside dining.  Both are comfortable

General – I will  not go to this restaurant in the future and I will not recommend.

Final Note – Bread and Water you will be OK.  Still “blacklisted”.

Alternative Peruvian Restaurants Not Reviewed (stay tuned - we will review soon):
La Palma also has other fare and some fine wine to accompany the meal; Open 5-9 PM, closed Mondays and Sundays.

La Fortaleza, which opened in June of 2005; It's on the corner of Calle Central and Avenida 7
